Aspen · Roaring Fork Valley

WiFi that works in every room, including the ones with stone walls.

Almost everything else on this site depends on the network being right. It is the part most often done cheaply, and the part that causes the most complaints.

Why valley houses are hard

The construction here is actively hostile to wireless. Stone, timber, radiant floor heating, foil-backed insulation and metal roofing all attenuate signal, and the houses are large enough that one router was never going to be enough. Add outbuildings, a garage apartment, a pool house and a driveway gate, and the problem stops being about the router at all.

The fix is unglamorous: enough access points in the right places, cabled properly, on a switch that can power them, with channels planned rather than left on automatic. Done once, correctly, it stops being a topic of conversation.

What we install and manage

We work with Ubiquiti, Araknis and comparable commercial-grade equipment rather than consumer gear, because it can be monitored remotely and updated without a site visit. Networks are segmented so that guests, staff, cameras and smart-home devices sit apart from the machines holding anything important.

Every managed network is monitored continuously. We generally know an access point has failed, or a circuit has gone down, before anyone in the house does — which in a property that is empty for months at a time is the difference between a phone call and a flooded basement.

Businesses and hospitality

Offices, shops, restaurants and short-term rental properties across the valley have the same problem in a different shape: guest WiFi that has to be easy and separate, point-of-sale that cannot go down in July, and staff turnover that makes shared passwords a bad idea. We build for that explicitly.
